Why us

Because you get one shot at the state exam. Okay, two.

If you fail the state exam, North Carolina law gives you one retake within 90 days. That's why the school you pick matters. Our course is built for one thing: making sure you pass the first time. Real forms, interactive practice tests graded on the spot, and instructors who keep you awake because they actually lived this job. No college degree required. No experience required. This is a real career on your own terms, and many of our students go beyond just getting a job. They start successful businesses of their own.

Bond paperwork on a desk

Real-world training

You'll fill out actual bond and surrender forms, just like on the job. You leave employable, not just certified.

A tablet and phone showing interactive practice quizzes

Digital interactive practice tests

Same format, same content style as the state exam. Graded immediately, wrong answers explained immediately. Everything, and we mean everything, covered.

A full class of students laughing together in a hotel meeting room

Instructors who've done the job

Our instructors are the secret to your success. They have had long, successful careers in this business. Students call the class the best they've ever taken. We just call it the weekend.

The class

Two days. Everything included.

Show up by 9:00 AM. Bring your laptop or tablet if you'd like, although it's not required. Your textbook, study guides, and interactive practice tests are all accessible online 24/7. You can open them anytime, from any computer or phone. Class runs until about 5:00 both days, and you leave with your certificate in hand and your instructor's phone number in your pocket.

Day one

The law, the forms, the business. Taught with real stories and understandable examples, not a slideshow marathon. By lunch, you'll understand the entire bail bond process from start to finish.

Day two

Write a bond from start to finish. By the end of class, you'll know everything you need to know to pass the state exam.

After class

Come back to class for a free refresher (or more than one) any time before your state exam. Your digital materials stay with you, so you can study anywhere while you wait for your exam letter.

A couple of extra rules apply only to previously licensed bondsmen: no outstanding bail bond obligations and no prior violations of NCGS 58-71 or NCGS 15A-26. Questions about your situation? Call us at (919) 612-1260 and we'll talk it through.

Why we exist

Our competitor wanted an illegal monopoly.

Our competitor got a state law written that would have forced every current and future bondsman to attend their school. Read about it here. We thought you deserved a choice, so we fought it. The NC Superior Court agreed. The Court of Appeals agreed. The North Carolina Supreme Court agreed. The law was ruled unconstitutional, and 15 years later, we're still here, still the lowest price in the state, still the school that bondsmen recommend and tell their friends about. Having a choice is important. Your choices define your life and your level of success.

Ask any bondsman in the state: we help you start strong and we promise to remain a trusted advocate and resource throughout your career.

NC Bail Academy

Testimonials

Straight off our evaluation forms.

I went to the other school the first time and failed the state exam. Everything was different with this school. I made a 97 and passed the state exam with no problem!

End-of-class evaluation

Lyne stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes answering every question I had. She was so nice and kind. I felt like it would be a great experience, and I was absolutely right.

End-of-class evaluation

I LOVE Suzie! She's the BEST teacher and has an awesome class.

End-of-class evaluation

I have never laughed so much and learned so much. This class is definitely NOT boring! Lyne really held our attention. She's an amazing teacher!

End-of-class evaluation

Tim Mathis is, hands down, the BEST instructor I have EVER SEEN anywhere: military school, college, grad school. Anywhere.

End-of-class evaluation

Suzie is a wonderful instructor. She is funny, smart and such a good teacher! The stories she told made it so much more relatable.

End-of-class evaluation

Your pass rate is very impressive and seemed too good to be true. But now I understand. Y'all are just that good.

End-of-class evaluation

I went to the other school and I failed the state exam. A bondsman told me about the Bail Academy. The schools are like night and day. Everything I didn't understand was completely clear after going to NC Bail Academy. I was completely confident when I left this class. When I left the other class I was depressed and ready to give up.

End-of-class evaluation

Dallas McClain IS bail in NC.

End-of-class evaluation

If you're going anywhere else, you're paying more and learning less.

End-of-class evaluation

It was so much more than what I expected. I learned so much!

End-of-class evaluation

I expected the class to have a very boring "heads-down" atmosphere but I was completely blown away. I found it to be interesting and engaging from the beginning to the end.

End-of-class evaluation

The class was profoundly excellent and thorough. The instructor is THE BOMB!

End-of-class evaluation

I enjoyed this class and learned so much. It wasn't boring like the other school.

End-of-class evaluation

I like the mood, vibe & energy! We were having so much fun that we didn't even realize how much we were learning.

End-of-class evaluation

I loved the instructor. She did a wonderful job delivering material for the class.

End-of-class evaluation

Yes, the class was very informative and the instructor did a great job explaining & helping me to understand.

End-of-class evaluation

Well, it definitely wasn't the typical old boring weekend class I expected. The class was unexpected and truly awesome.

End-of-class evaluation

Lyne was knowledgeable about all aspects of the business and knew how to simplify her expertise in her explanations and instruction.

End-of-class evaluation

I loved the instructor's in-depth explanations, willingness to explain each and every question.

End-of-class evaluation

I was overwhelmed UNTIL I took THIS class. The instructor made it fun and completely understandable, and the Resource Library is amazing!

End-of-class evaluation

This is my refresher course. I take the test Tuesday. Suzie taught my initial class and Lyne taught this one. All I can say is this school and the students are so lucky to have instructors this knowledgeable and this interesting. Both classes were so fun and informative and overall amazing. When I was studying, I called Lyne about a couple of questions I was confused about, and she made sure I understood. (One time was at 10:30 at night and she answered and explained everything and made sure I understood.) I'm not worried about passing the state exam at all.

End-of-class evaluation

I can't imagine how much work went into making the class and the study materials this thorough, understandable, and enjoyable. Loved every minute of it.

End-of-class evaluation

I can't believe that I didn't want the class to end. The instructor is amazing!

End-of-class evaluation

Mike's class was enjoyable and interesting. His stories were awesome! I love the practical hands-on approach.

End-of-class evaluation

I loved the class. And the study guides, online practice tests and the capability of being able to immediately see what you answered wrong and why it was wrong is invaluable.

End-of-class evaluation

I was expecting the class to be boring! Wow! I was so wrong! I love how interactive the class was and the role playing explained everything perfectly.

End-of-class evaluation

The information was given to us in a way where it was easily retainable and we were given impressive and great study tools. The breaks were spaced out well also.

End-of-class evaluation

I never expected a teacher like Tim. NO ONE ever expects a teacher like Tim!!

End-of-class evaluation

Best class and best teacher EVER!

End-of-class evaluation

Dallas is the best instructor I have ever known.

End-of-class evaluation

Dallas is so great. He really knows what he is talking about. He kept it interesting the whole time.

End-of-class evaluation

Mike did a great job. There's nothing he doesn't know about bail bonding.

End-of-class evaluation

Lyne has a way of making you not feel stupid, even if you are (lol). Her class is fun and easy to understand. She's great and so is this school!

End-of-class evaluation

I talked to 5 bondsmen. They all said the ONLY school to go to is NC Bail Academy. They knew what they were talking about!

Questions

The stuff everybody asks

Do I need to register?

No. Walk-ins are always welcome. If you want to register and/or pre-pay, you can do so here.

What if I fail the state exam?

State law gives you one retake within 90 days. Come back to class free before you take it, and we'll make sure round two goes differently.

How do I pay?

Cash, credit, debit, Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, Afterpay, or Venmo. In person on class day, or online here.

What happens after class?

You electronically file your application to the Department of Insurance, wait about 4 weeks for your exam letter, then take the state exam. Come back for a free refresher or two while you wait.

Do you teach bounty hunting?

In North Carolina, the people who do "bounty hunter" work are licensed bail agents, and training them is exactly what we do. Here's how bounty hunting really works in NC.

Do you help me find work?

First-year licensees need a supervising bondsman. Bondsmen call us when they are looking for agents and we'll pass those names on to you. (By statute, we can't recruit or steer you to a specific employer, but we'll hook you up with the ones who are looking.)
